About ESP Guitars
ESP began in 1975 as a repair shop Electric Sound Products and soon began making guitars under the ESP banner for sale in Japan. ESP replacement parts were introduced into the states in 1983 and gained popularity in New York with artists such Vernon Reid and Ronnie Wood.
In 1985 the famous George Lynch Kamikaze model was released and soon after a range of signature series guitars was established including the James Hetfield model after Metallica’s rise to fame in the late 1980’s.
By 2002 the company was one of the fastest growing worldwide as many Jackson users switched to ESP after Fender’s acquisition of Jackson cast a shadow over the metal image of the brand.
